Luxury Vinyl Tiles & Laminates
Hardwearing, modern flooring
Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVTs)
Luxury vinyl tiles are supplied as individual planks or tiles in a range of sizes, shapes and thicknesses, typically from 2.5 – 8 mm. They have the realistic look of wood, stone or ceramic tile in a hardwearing, durable form which is scratch and chip resistant, tolerant of moisture and easy to clean. Due, in part, to their competitive cost, infinite design possibilities and ease of installation they have overtaken traditional sheet vinyl in many retail, restaurant and educational environments.
Interlocking Vinyl Tiles
Like LVTs, interlocking vinyl tiles (sometimes marketed as Click or LOC flooring) are supplied as individual planks and tiles with a unique tongue and groove locking mechanism which joins the tiles together, similar in profile to laminate planks. This eliminates the need for adhesive as the planks or tiles are designed to be lose laid onto the existing subfloor. Some designs are available with a micro bevel effect on either two or all four sides which adds a subtle depth and detailing to the finished floor.
Laminate flooring is a multi-layer, synthetic floor product comprised of various wear layers, fused together by a lamination process. Its natural appearance is created by a high- resolution photograph of real wood which is reproduced with sophisticated printing techniques. The planks are laid in much the same way as engineered wood flooring. Each manufacturer patents their own installation system for fixing the individual planks together. This type of installation is often described as a “floating floor” i.e. it’s not fixed to the subfloor by any fixing method. The finished floor is held in place by either the skirting boards or quadrant edging around the perimeter of the room.
